There are some simple things you can do to plan your day so you will still be productive. - Have a routine – whether flexible or more rigid, it’s up to you. However knowing, for example, that your baby will have a 2 hour sleep after lunch, or your kids will be at kinder every Monday morning, will help you plan your time.
- Know what tasks can be interrupted and which need to be done with no kids around. For me, I know my accounts is something I don’t touch while the kids are around as I need to concentrate, however posting on forums is something I can do that can be interrupted

- Work out tasks you can do together. Depending on the ages of your children, there are tasks they can help with. Young children especially love helping Mum because it’s something you are doing together.
- Work out tasks the kids can do. Again, depending on the ages of your children, there may be tasks you can give them that are their responsibility. For example my 7 year old has learned how to use the laminator, so I give him the task of any laminating that needs to be done, under supervision of course.
With a bit of planning, your business can run smoothly with the kids around.
